(Title translation; the urban color workshop)

August-September 2023, open-source natural dyeing workshop
In 2023 I collaborated with the arts and culture festival Trekantområdets Festuge. I developed and hosted five workshops which nomadically travelled through five of the municipalities involved in the Festival. The dream of the workshop was to research and reflect upon how we can cultivate belonging to our local surrounding(s) through natural dye, as a partnership - of (co)creation - and a search for how to make knowledge accessible in a world of gatekeepers (the textile industry often makes information hard to obtain, as ‘designers’ has to make money somehow in this capitalist world we are all caught in this money wheel system).
The workshop was aimed bypassers and located in the midst of busy cities, thus people who often are not found in artspaces interacted with it. Our starting-point was the local urban surroundings, and we experimented with plants not usually used for natural dyeing creating small dye samples together.
*In the city of Vejen the format slightly differed, as two school classes were invited to each participate. Here we researcher the dyeing properties of the trees located at the art museum where the workshop took place, natural tie-dyeing and drawing together.
